June Update to Members – Limited Re-Opening of Eastern Woodturners Workshop & Future Meetings

As you are aware, restrictions associated with the COVID19 pandemic are starting to ease.  The committee met by phone last week and the main item of discussion was to agree a plan for reopening the club.  Minutes of the meeting will be circulated shortly. The Committee has decided on a limited reopening of the workshop starting on Wednesday 1st July.

There are restrictions on the use of the workshop and these are set out in the attached document.  Please take the time to familiarise yourself with these procedures.  Notably, numbers are severely restricted at the workshop because of distancing requirements. For the foreseeable future, the workshop will cater only to small group work sessions, a minimum of two and maximum of five members plus a supervisor. Meetings, starting with a regular club meeting on 15th July and the AGM on 5th August will be held in the jubilee room of Mont de Lancey and will not be demo’s or hands-on meetings.

There are a couple of other important matters looming large.

1.  We are coming up to the end of the financial year and membership fees are due by 30th June.  The committee has decided to maintain the fees at $45 in line with the wishes of the majority of members who responded on this.  However, any member who is suffering genuine financial hardship can approach the Treasurer on a confidential basis to seek a reduction or waiver of fees.  The treasurer has been authorised by the committee to exercise discretion in this regard.

Fees may be paid by bank transfer or by calling the treasurer with credit card details for payment through the “square”system.

2.   The AGM will be held on Wednesday 5th August.  A committee needs to be elected and nominations are sought for the office bearer positions and a minimum of three additional committee members, namely:

President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Committee member (deputising for Secretary)
Committee member (deputising for Treasurer)
Committee member (acting as Safety Officer)

Nomination forms are attached.  You may nominate yourself if you wish.  Please return the nomination forms to a committee member once completed.
